Reflecting on my academic journey, I’m inspired by how far I’ve come—from a reluctant student to an empowered advocate for education. I wasn’t always passionate about learning; in fact, school once felt like an endless struggle. My grades were low, each school day felt daunting, and failing tests constantly reminded me of my academic hurdles. Reading, spelling, and pronunciation seemed like insurmountable challenges, leaving me feeling out of place in a world that celebrated academic success. Then, one teacher changed everything—Ms. G, whose faith in me was unshakable. Her dedication to my growth went beyond class hours, extending into weekends with countless hours of mentoring. “I see a spark in you,” she’d say, her eyes filled with encouragement I struggled to understand. At the time, I only longed for recess and escape from those dreaded weekly vocabulary tests. The word “superior” haunted me, a symbol of my struggle. But today, I spell it effortlessly—SU-PER-IOR—a victory earned through perseverance. My mother, determined to see me succeed, enrolled me in private schools despite my resistance. I wanted to join my cousins in public school, but life had other plans. When I faced the high school entrance exam, I hatched a plan to fail on purpose. Circling random answers in a pattern, I thought I’d cleverly dodge the test. Yet, when my mother received a call questioning my intentions, she stood firm. Her belief in my potential fueled a turning point I couldn’t have predicted. In a twist of fate, I ended up in an all-girls school—what I thought would be a punishment became an unexpected blessing as I reconnected with childhood friends. High school was a whirlwind of ups and downs, but my real transformation began in college. Enrolling at the University of Rhode Island (URI), I initially struggled. Yet, it was here that I discovered a love for learning, sparked by reading scholarly articles and diving into the work of academic trailblazers. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in four years felt like the ultimate accomplishment—a new beginning.Five years later, my hunger for growth led me to pursue a master’s degree at Providence College. Driven to excel, I set an ambitious goal of completing a 42-credit program in record time. I pushed through five graduate courses in a summer semester, surprising even the dean. My hard work paid off, as I graduated earlier than intended with a renewed sense of resilience and commitment to my educational path.Fast forward to 2020: I embarked on a doctoral program at Johnson & Wales University, ready to deepen my academic journey. Life threw me an unexpected challenge, prompting a medical leave of absence, but I returned stronger in 2023 to finish my capstone project. This journey has sharpened my academic insight and ignited a passion to inspire others.Fueled by these experiences, I established an educational consulting business to empower students as they navigate the challenges of higher education. This interactive guide is a culmination of my journey, designed to equip individuals like you with practical tools and wisdom for success. As we embark on this journey together, I invite you to reflect on your goals. Let’s use the SMART framework to define specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound aspirations. Together, let’s set the stage for a purposeful, impactful journey. Will you rise to meet your potential? The path to success awaits. Read more
