Andries Willemzen Hoppe (Hoppen) lived in New Amsterdam for only seven years (1651-1658) and at his death he left behind four children under the age of eight. From these unlikely beginnings, he became the progenitor of a very large family of Hopper descendants. For more than one hundred years, these descendants, who now use the Hopper surname, lived in the New York City area, especially in Bergen County, New Jersey. Today, Hopper descendants can be found in every state and in many other countries. The Hopper Family Genealogy, Descendants of Andries Willemzen Hoppe(n), of New Amsterdam 1651-1658, The First Six Generation, Vol. I is a revised edition of the original genealogy of the same name, published in 2005. It is forty pages longer and features a bibliography, gazetteer, index and newly discovered descendants, as well as additional pictures, maps and documents.
