The 17.75-inch steel shaft connects the engine coupling to the jet pump impeller, spinning at engine RPM to create water thrust. This shaft length is exclusive to the 2021+ Spark and is not interchangeable with the 18-inch shaft on 2014-2020 models. Symptoms of a failing drive shaft include vibration at speed, metallic sounds from the pump, and visible scoring. Installation requires removing the jet pump assembly to access the shaft.
