A wide trunk mounts to the center of your wall and splits into thick branches that spread outward in both directions. Each branch ends in a full mushroom cap shelf with deeply carved gill lines visible on the underside. Nine caps in total, arranged symmetrically across three tiers, with the widest cap centered at the top.
This is not a narrow vertical shelf. It spreads horizontally like an actual tree canopy, covering a broad wall section and filling it completely. From across the room it reads as a sculptural tree growing out of the wall, with mushroom caps where the leaves would be.
The gill detail
Every cap has radiating gill lines carved into the underside, running from the branch attachment point outward to the cap rim. The gills are deep enough to cast visible shadows when light hits the wall at an angle. This is the detail you notice when you walk underneath the shelf and look up, or when afternoon sunlight rakes across the surface and throws thin shadow lines across the wall behind it.
How the branches work
The trunk splits into thick Y-shaped branches at the center, and those branches split again into smaller forks. Each fork terminates in a mushroom cap shelf. The branching is symmetrical, with matching cap positions on left and right, but the grain and carving vary so it does not look factory-mirrored.
The branches curve upward and outward, giving each cap enough clearance from the one below it to hold a full row of standing books. The middle tier branches are the longest, extending furthest from the trunk and holding the widest caps. Books sit between the branch pairs, with caps above and below acting as natural walls.
What fits where
The three tiers create natural compartments:
• Bottom tier (2 caps): smaller items, trailing plants, candles, small sculpture
• Middle tier (4 caps + 2 open book bays): main book storage, 10 to 15 books per bay
• Top tier (2 caps + 1 center crown cap): display shelf, accent pieces, top-of-bookshelf decor
Each cap holds 12 to 18 lbs. The open bays between branches hold 20 to 25 lbs of books.
The trunk
Wide, organic, with a visible knot and grain lines running vertically. The trunk tapers slightly from bottom to top. Where it splits into branches, the wood flows continuously without hard joints. The surface is smooth and rounded, with a satin finish that lets the grain pattern show through.
Mounting
Concealed steel bracket system behind the trunk and main branch junctions. All hardware is hidden by the wood. The piece ships in sections (trunk, left branch assembly, right branch assembly) and connects via heavy-duty concealed bolts during installation. Drilling template, lag screws, and stud anchors included. Two people, about 45 minutes.
Where it fits
Living rooms, family rooms, home libraries, bedrooms, kids rooms. It needs a wall section at least 5 feet wide and looks best centered on a feature wall. Works above a sofa, behind a reading chair, or as the centerpiece of a home library wall.
The symmetrical spread makes it a natural focal point. You do not need anything else on the same wall.
Material and finish
Solid oak with a satin oil finish. Golden honey tones with straight-to-wavy grain visible across trunk, branches, and cap surfaces. Smooth, rounded edges on every surface. The finish deepens naturally with age and light exposure.
